1. Soot Buildup

When the heating system works as required, it burns without producing soot. However, if the appliance has issues with the heat exchanger, there is likely to be incomplete combustion that will generate soot. As a result, carbon buildup in the heating system will block the pilot light and other parts, leading to ineffective heat transfer. Therefore, the heating system will have to work harder to heat your premise, and that will reflect on your utility bill. 2. Strange Smells

Therefore, you must act fast if you notice that the heating system produces foul smells. In most cases, such smells indicate that your heat exchanger is failing. 3. Wear Damage

One of your responsibilities is to check your commercial appliances regularly for any signs of damage, including the furnace. If you notice an external crack during the inspection, it is possible that the internal parts, especially the heat exchanger, are not intact. Such problems could be caused by the expansion and contraction that the appliance goes through when heating your space. These issues might signify that the heat exchanger needs to be replaced, but the only way to know for sure is by hiring professionals to examine the entire system.
